To Do List & Travel

Today I am leaving to head to Northwest Arkansas to see my BFF and to go to a wedding. This week has just been crazy and I hadn't packed a single thing or done anything to get ready to go OOT until late last night. It never fails and always happens like that, things being crazy and hectic before I travel. So I don't forget things I need, I usually write myself a little To Do list and also jot things down that I need to remember to take.
I also write little notes for Mike from time to time. Sometimes I'll lay it out in the kitchen so he will see it in the mornings (he leaves to go to work before me.) Or sometimes I will put in in a bag with his lunch or with other things he is taking. I did this tonight so he would see it in the morning. I wish he was going with me this weekend - but he must work. I know that I am going to have the best time with my BFF Ashley and I am so looking forward to seeing her little princess Avery!!

Hope everyone else has a great weekend!! I'll be back with pics of my time in NWA here in a few days!

Show 'N Tell Tuesday: Our Pumpkin

SHOW:

TELL:
Mike and I carved our pumpkin Sunday Night and I just LOVE it!! I decided to do a "N" for Nabors! I can't take all the credit though . . . I just drew the N and then Mike carved it. We have not carved a pumpkin in the past. I grew up always going on a picnic in the Fall with my parents and brother every year and my Dad would carve one, but since Mike and I have been together, we have never carved one ourselves. We've always bought several pumpkins and put them on our porch or inside for decoration - but never carved one. He said he had only carved a pumpkin once or twice before in his life - so for not having carved many, I think he did an AWESOME job!!! I just love it!!! I think I will make this a tradition and we will do a "N" pumpkin every year. Then when we have kids we'll do a fun one with a face of course too - but this could be my pretty pumpkin. It really helped me complete our kitchen table too. I love coming home at night and lighting a candle in the pumpkin, it looks so pretty!

Oh and I found my Bittersweet berry wreath and put it outside on our patio door. I love this wreath because it's great for Fall and then is also a good transition wreath getting into Christmas. I'm not as big on wreaths as I used to be, but I love this one. So that's our carved pumpkin and wreath. I posted about some of our other Fall decorations a while back. Since then I have made a few changes, not many. But now that our pumpkin is done and I just found my wreath that was tucked away in a box from moving - I feel like I've got all I want out for Fall. Now before I know it, it will be time to put it all away and get Christmas stuff out! But I'm going to enjoy my Fall stuff till Thanksgiving!

Fall, Family, Food, & Fire Pit

My weekend was pretty busy, but so great! My Dad flew home and it was so good to have him here with all of us. My brother's college, Northwest had homecoming Saturday and so I worked half a day and then drove about an hour down to the campus. I met up with my parents and my brothers girlfriend Ashley. Mike was working and couldn't get off to go. I hated he wasn't able to be there. We had a good time at the game and it was fun to watch my brother, Casey in action on the drum line. He has such a passion for music, drums especially! He has always loved football too and I know that he (and my dad) have always wished he could play football. Unfortunately, a bone disease runs in our family and my brother and I both have it. I have it slightly and have had some broken bones over the years due to the disease, but my brother has had it worse. Right after he turned 2, he broke his femur and was in a body cast from the waste down, then he broke it 2 more times up until he was 12. He's had a few surgeries as well as few other breaks (arm, wrist, shoulder, thumb, ect.) The reason I am telling all of this is to explain the reason why he was never able to play sports, football especially. He did as a kid with friends in the yard like all boys did, but never actually on a team. My parents just never thought it was a good idea. So since he wasn't able to be involved in sports, my parents got him started playing the drums at an early age. He is very talented and we are so proud of him!! I look forward to seeing what the future holds for him and his talent.

Sat. night after the game, Mike and I went for a little drive since it was such a nice afternoon, then we came home and ate dinner with the fam. After dinner we all went outside and sat around our little fire pit, listened to some music and roasted marshmallows. It was so fun! I love weekends with my family. Something about this time of year makes it that much more fun!

I've got a very busy week ahead: work, a test Tues. and Wed. then I work half a day and head to NWA to see my best friend Ash and go to a friends wedding. I am SO looking forward to going back to my home town! I was there a few months ago, but being there this time of year is my favorite!! I am really looking forward to the drive down there too. All of the trees are SO gorgeous right now and that makes the drive so nice!

Hope everyone had a great weekend & I will be back Tues!

Black & Brown . . . Do or Don't

I remember the days when I was younger and you did NOT wear black and brown together! But today it seems different and unless it's your personal preference, I don't think it's a fashion no no. I for one love black and brown and it doesn't bother me or I don't think "ewww." But I also know some people that hate black and brown. They hate it when it comes to clothing and even furniture - which is something I like to do to. So - what does everyone else think about black and brown?? I mix it all the time and wear a black dress with brown boots and accessories, but we all have our opinions/ likes and dislikes.

These are a couple pics from a while back when I wore a brown dress with black boots - and I loved wearing the 2 colors together!

7 Things & Cosmo

To my surprise I have received another blog award! OMG - 2 in one week?!?! Yesterday I hopped over to a new follower of mine, The Pink Polka Dot, just to check out her blog and was surprised to see that she had given me an award. Thank you!!! And I look forward to following her blog - isn't the name of it just so cute??
To receive this award I have to:

*Thank the person who nominated me for the award
*Copy the award
*Tell 7 things about myself that people may not know
*Nominate 7 others for the award

7 Things about myself:

1. I am married to a personal trainer - but you would never know it by looking at me! ha ha! It is not his day job - just something he does on the side from time to time. Working out (mainly weight lifting) is his passion!! He goes to the gym just about everyday - I wish I did! We used to go all the time together, but now our schedules don't allow for that to happen. I wish it did - I loved going to the gym with him!

2. I went to church with Bill Clinton when I was a little girl in Little Rock. When I got saved at the age of 7, he wrote me a letter - which I still have till this day. He was the Gov. of AR at the time. I know a lot of people do not like him, but I always have. Didn't see Hillary much - she went to a different church I think. But Bill was there all the time and sang in the choir and sometimes Chelsea was in my Sunday school class. Although he has made mistakes (like we all have) he was and is very charismatic in person and when you are face to face.

3. My diamond that is in my wedding ring, along with 2 others, were carried over from Germany by the owner of the store I work for, so I could pick out the one I wanted for my ring (engagement ring at the time.) It is a special type of diamond called a Gabirielle Cut Diamond - which has 105 facettes, rather than 57 facettes that a Brilliant Cut Diamonds has.

4. I am not a big fruity drink person when I go out for drinks - never have been. I am a wine, beer, vodka type of girl. If I'm going to have a cocktail I like a Dirty Martini, Cape Cod, or a vodka tonic nothing to0 fruity.

5. My hair is naturally curly. I get it from my dad (thanks Dad!) I used to wear it curly all the time and a lot in high school - but for some reason it doesn't seem to do as good curly as it used to. Perhaps my hair has changed as I've gotten older, or maybe I've straightened it to much over the years, ha ha.

6. Speaking of hair one time I got my hair done and a Chi straightener burnt half of my bangs off!!! I got a trim and color - and everything was PERFECT and just as my hair dresser (and friend) was finishing up and straightening a last few pieces, she went over my bangs and I saw all of this hair just fall in my lap. The Chi malfunctioned and burnt a chunk of my bangs!! Normally I would've started crying - but my brother had just lost a good friend of his in a car wreck a week before - so at this time I had the attitude that it was just hair and it would grow back. Normally I really would have been SO upset. My friend felt SO bad too - but it wasn't her fault! But to make matter worse, I was going to be in my best friend, Ashley's wedding a few weeks later . . . . ugghhhh

7. hmmm - last thing that most of you may not know about me . . . . trying to think of something interesting here . . . I was a model when I was a little girl. I was in clothing magazines. Pretty fun! I should pull some of those pics out!

Now to pass this on to 7 others . . .

4. Llama @ Llama Tales

There are many more I could pass this on to, but these are my 7 peeps I wanted to pass it on to today.

One last thing . . . the other night I was feeling "blah" and not in the best of moods due to good 'ol PMS! Mike had to run up to Wal-Greens and not only did he do me a huge favor by buying me some tampons (ha ha) but he came home with a magazine to cheer me up. He knows that I like Kim Kardashian and he said that when he saw this mag he just had to get it for me. The magazine is Cosmo and in the top right corner it says "For Sexy Bitches Only." ha ha ha - he said he saw that and had to get it for me. I could take that a couple ways, ha! There are also a couple of topics on the cover that could be the reason why he bought this for me too - LOL! But it was sweet of him to get me a magazine! (and the tampons!! - if that doesn't show that someone loves you, I don't know what does??)

MY Jessica Simpson Boots

So today I am sporting a pair of Jessica Simpson boots that Mike got me for my Birthday last March. Since I got them in March I didn't get to wear them as much as I would have liked since by that time it was getting warmer. I usually think these boots can be worn year around, but for some reason I only wore these a couple times after I got them. I was so glad to pull them out last night and then wear them today. I felt like they were brand new!! I love JS's style of shoes because like me, she is short and so most of her shoes are tall! That's what I love about these boots, they are cowboy boots, but have a little bit taller heel - which is what I LOVE!! I have worn them with a cute dress before, but today I am wearing them over skinny jeans and I just love 'em!!

Mike ordered mine from Zappos - another place I just love. They ship in 24 hours and then if something doesn't work that you order from there, them you can ship it back for free!! Zappos is awesome - I ordered my shoes I wore from my wedding there as well! I ordered them at 3:00 one afternoon and before noon the next day I had my shoes! It was great!!! Back to JS -Macy's is the big retailer that sells her shoes, you can find a lot of her collections there.

Some other shoes/boots from Jessica Simpson's collection I'm diggin . . . . .

Show 'N Tell Tuesday: Cute little Box

SHOW:

TELL:
A few weeks ago, M & I were out running some errands when I ran across this adorable little box. It was on sale and marked down to only $6 - so of course I HAD to get it!! I always love to find cute little things like this to set around. I want to actually use it for something, I just don't know what?? If I put it in our bedroom I could use it to put jewelry in that I take off each day, I could put hand written recipes in it, my watches, or just something that is special to me that I would like to keep in a cute little box like this. Who knows? But for now I guess I will just leave it as an accessory in our den. I did try in on the coffee table in the living room and put our remote in it at night when we go to bed - I thought that was a cute idea too, just to keep things tidy and all. Either way, finding little things like this make me happy - I guess I'm weird like that. But I just love little treasures!!

Brown Girl @ Brown Girl Blogs

(***It was really hard to pick just a few peeps, but I'll try to do one again and send it to the others that I hated to leave out. )

The highlight of our weekend was going to the Orpheum Star Search to root for my brothers girlfriend, Ashley who was participating and singing. She is a phenomenal singer and was on Broadway as Annie when she was younger.

Out of 11 people who participated in the Star Search, she won 2nd place!! We are so proud of her!! She is so talented, she sings for a number of functions, performs in plays and is also a student at University of Alabama. Her dream is to be back on Broadway when she is done with school and I definitely think she will do it. She is a beautiful young lady and I'm so glad my brother has such an amazing girlfriend! I love her! Sometimes I wish she still lived close by so we could share clothes, ha ha!

Snappin pics on the way . . . .
Ashley!! Isn't her dress so pretty?? And her jewelry just sparkled on stage!!
Guess all 3 of us got the "wear black and white memo" ha ha! Those are my colors though! Can't go wrong with B&W - classic!
Mike and I in the lobby of the Orpheum. We love coming back here and have so many memories. Best of them all is that we were lucky enough to have our rehearsal dinner in this beautiful building on stage. Every time we come back to see a show or concert I look at the stage where the performance is taking place and think WOW - we had our rehearsal dinner here. What a memory!!
After that Mike and I went to Blue Fin, a wonderful Sushi bar here in Memphis. My Mom met up with us a little later. It was so good.

Today I was off work - YAY! Slept in, lounged around a little then finally got my butt up and went to the grocery. I fixed Mike som Jamaican Jerk chicken, red beans and rice, and then some mini crab cakes. They were SO good. They were actually "Low Carb" crab cakes. Quite yummy and will definitely make them again. Now I am off to enjoy the night on the couch with my boo, have a little wine, and watch a few shows. Gotta love Sunday night TV!

Shoe Saga - What's a girl to do???

Yesterday I found 2 of the most FANTABULOUS shoes - I am just dying over them!!!! And not only are they absolutely fabulous -but the price . . . OMG. I got a pair of leopard Steve Maddens for 19.99 (originally 89.99) and then this fab platform heel with patent strap for 14.99 (orig. $50.00.) I got them at Ross - I have had the best luck finding shoes there! I wasn't even looking for shoes or anything really - I just happened to see them.

The saga here and my dilemma is that the black ones are tad big, but I made another whole in the strap and they fit a little better. I think I can put an insert in them too to make them work. I usually wear a 6, 6.5 and sometimes 7. The black ones are a 7. But just like clothes, sometimes shoe sizes fit differently even if it's the size you think you always wear. The amazing leopard ones are a 6 - which I thought would be perfect, but when I got home and tried them on they fetl too snug. I just love these shoes so much though, I feel like I will do ANYTHING to make them fit, ha ha! I know a shoe repair place can stretch boots and stuff, so I wonder if they can do it for a shoe?? hmmm . . . .I may have to find out. I just love them so & will be so sad if I have to part with them! =( As much as I do love them - I also know that there is nothing worse then a girl who's feet are killing her because of her shoes - that is the WORST feeling in the world. So I don't want to be killing myself trying to wear these things, but I would love it if they were just a tad looser and not so tight. Perhaps this particular shoe runs small or something, who knows??

But lookie . . . are they not just to DIE for???

I'm at work right now and feeling SO tired!!! This week has been so long for me, working late a few nights and not getting home till 10 or 11, going to class and then last night I didn't get home till 1 a.m. My Mom, brother and I went to Jackson (about an hour away) to go see my Great Aunt. She has been like a grandmother to me and is the only grandmother figure I've had on my mother's side growing up. She is not doing very well at all. It was so sad, but she actually was able to talk a little and she even still cracked a few jokes. It's just so hard to see someone in that condition and stage in life.

On a happier note - yesterday at work I was playing around with a little make-up (I wasn't busy in the morning so I played with some colors, ha ha.) With the time of year it is, I have the need for darker colors: eye shadows, lipstick polish. The darker eyeshadow and polish is a usual thing for me, but I haven't done my lips dark in a while - so I did yesterday and really liked it for a change. I was goofing around and being a dork taking pics with my phone. I wish you could tell how dark the lipstick was, because it looks lighter in these pics of mine.

I know I look just down right stupid and silly here. Ya'll are probably thinking . . .who do you think you are Mrs. Nabors??? ha ha! But I couldn't help but pucker my lips and make a "sassy" face. Something about new make-up just makes you want to do it. ha ha

Tonight I am going to the Orpheum Theatre to see my brothers girlfriend perform. It should be fun. I think M is going with me. My Mom used to work there and so we have spent many many nights there enjoying plays, concerts and benefits. The most enjoyable of all of the occasions is the fact that we had our rehearsal dinner on stage! It was amazing and something that no one else has done! I was lucky and my Mom was able to pull a few strings since she worked there at the time. So I am excited to go back tonight. The Orpheum holds so many memories for us!

Oh and tonight when I am finally able to lay my tired head on my pillow this will be my prayer:

"As I lay me down to sleep I pray the Lord these shoes I keep.
And if I die before I wake, please let these shoes fit for goodness sake!!!"

Well - it was worth a try, right?
