Pre Royal Wedding Watch Party

Tonight a girlfriend and I had a Pre-Royal Wedding watch party at my house! It was so fun!! I set some things up last night for it and we had some little snacks and tea! I will post more pics over the weekend, but here's a sneak peak.

And that's not all! My chauffeur for the day was a good friend of mine who drives a 1979 British Leyland Mini! I felt like I was driving in London today as I sat on the left with my friend/driver on the right! So fun & a perfect day for it!!

I can't drive right now due to the orthopedic boot I'm wearing for my ankle, so my friend picked me up for work today. He has a cool, red, white and blue mini cooper, convertible, which I love riding in, but today he picked me up in his other, vintage mini!! So fun!!

Loved the Great Britain badge he had on the grill of his Mini!

Happy Royal Wedding Day Everyone!! Only a few more hours to go!! Yippy!

Totally Unnerved!

These past few days have been SO very unnerving with all of this horrible weather we have had! I took these 2 photos last night form our patio. This wasn't even the worst!

I have not slept good these past few nights because the sounds of rain, thunder and strong winds outside my bedroom window has been furoscious, not to mention the tornado sirens going on and off. Schools are closed around here, as well as roads due to flooding. And even some of the casinos will be temporarily closing!

Right now I am watching coverage of a road in county close by and a road completly split due to the flooding!! It's unbeleivealbe!! A man died due to this and road splitting. He was on his way to work early this morning. So incredibly sad! I'm praying for his family!! Many families are having to evacuate their homes due to the flooding.

There is a lot of damage and devastation around Memphis and the MidSouth. I pray for all of those who have been affected!! I think tomorrow the weather should be back to normal, and the sun out and shining!! I will be so thankful to see Mr. Sunshine!!

McQueen's Britannia

If I was going to the royal wedding, I wouldn't mind having one of these Alexander McQueen bobbles in my hand . . . .

I'm sure Queen Elizabeth would really dig the skull on top {haha} - but maybe she wouldn't mind it so much since it was designed by her fellow Brit: the late, great McQueen!

Easter.

This Easter weekend was spent with my hubby and younger brother. My parents are in TX 13+ hours away and they were not able to come for the weekend. I was sad about that because it's just not the same on Easter without them, but I was so happy my brother came home from Nashville and spent the weekend with us. He helped me out around the house too since I'm still not getting around to good. I also hated not having Easter goodies or a little basket for them both, but since I'm not getting out too much right now with my ankle, I just wasn't able to do it this year. I should've planned ahead and gotten a few things before, but I didn't. Oh well.

However, I was determined to fix an Easter meal and my lil bro & hubby helped me out so I could fix a few things. The only thing I didn't fix was our main course, which was some good 'ol fried chicken. Mike picked that up and I made all the sides and dessert. I had to sit at the kitchen bar most of the time and they handed me things I needed since I couldn't be up on my ankle much. I stood up for our pictures and got around some, but it was too hard to stand in the kitchen all day so they helped me. It was kinda nice I must say - having someone hand you ingredients and utensils! I enjoyed that part!

{hubby & brother. love. them. so. much.}

{loved these hydrangeas I got, so pretty!! I usually go for white ones, but I thought the pink were pretty and cheery!}

{deviled eggs . . . an Easter must! Hubby doesn't like deviled eggs, which meant more for us!}

{sweet pea salad}

{for drinks we had tea & lemonade . . . in mason jars}

{rolls and green beans}

{scalloped potatoes with bacon crumbles}

{last but not least - the fried chicken!! mm mm good! I can't remember the last time I ate it. It was so good, but not something I want to eat all the time!}

{time to eat!!}

{lemon bundt cake with lemon icing for dessert}

{us with our furry baby}

Oh and below was what I looked like as I cooked Sunday. It was a sight to see for sure!

Earlier in the week I had made some cute Easter cookies (again...sitting at the kitchen bar!) I did regular sugar cookies, iced them, then colored some coconut and put some chocolate filled eggs on top. They were really good and easy! Coconut on cookies is tasty too!! I was thinking this would be cute to do at Christmas with red and green icing then put the white coconut on top! I hope I remember that, haha!

So that was our Easter - tonight we have been watching stupid weather reports all night! I'm SO sick of all this bad, scary, un-nerving weather! It's going to be a long night I think. Hope all of you had a good Easter weekend with family and friends. And if you are having bad weather these next few days like we are here in Memphis, be safe!!

Good Friday

It is Good Friday for a few reasons for me today:

1. My little brother is coming home from Nashville this weekend to spend the weekend with us and to help take care of me a little since I'm not getting around too well still.

2. I'm feeling pretty good today. Yesterday was my worst day, I felt terrible due to my meds and had some pain. But after a good nights sleep, I'm feeling much better today. I think I'm going to try to lay off my pain meds unless I really get to hurting. I don't like how they make me feel and would rather deal with a little pain than feel sick and not myself.

3. Last but certainly not least, today is a reminder of what Easter is all about! I summed it up earlier when I posted the following on Facebook: "As I sit here in discomfort and a little pain, I think that it's nothing compared to the pain and discomfort Christ went through as he was on the Cross. I hope everyone remembers what Easter is truly all about and how lucky we are that our Heavenly Father went through so much and died, for each and every one of us! Happy Good Friday!!"

What do you all have planned for the weekend? I think we will just chill and spend time together at home. Unfortunately, I don't think we will be going to church since I'm not getting around too well. I really hate that, but it is what it is. Last weekend, before getting ready for my surgery, I did a few "Eastery" things at home and haven't had a chance to share my pictures yet. I still want to do a few more things If I'm able - but this was a start.

I hope to do a few more things if I feel up to it. I liked what I did last year for my Easter decor too, if you want to see that, click here.

Happy Birthday to my BFF!

{Me and Ash on my wedding day}

Today is my best friend, Ashley's birthday. Some of you bloggers may know her blog: Ashley's Avenue.

We have known eachother since 6th grade and been best friends since highschool. There is nothing that we don't know about eachother. We both always say that we are the only ones that we can truly tell EVERYTHING to! It's so nice to have a friend like that! A friend who can know everything about you, see you at your best and at your worst, see you in struggles and triumphs, and share the most joyous times of your life!

{Us the day we graduated High school}
{when were 20}

We live almost 6 hours a part now and don't get to see eachother enough! I know that's not very far away, but she is married and a stay at home mom, while I am married and work full time - so life keeps us both very busy. But the great thing about us and our friendship is that even when we don't see eachother as often as we would like to, when we finally do - it's as if no time at all has passed. We pick up right where we left off! Now that is what you call TRUE FRIENDS!!

{She made a trip to Memphis here and this was the first time she met Mike . . . when we were dating}

There are so many stories we love to look back on and remember. Some make us laugh till we cry and some make us ask "WHAT were we thinking??" Her family has been like my 2nd family and mine has been the same to her over the years.

{My engagement party, when she came to Memphis to visit and celebrate}

We have had some ups and downs, but after all these years, we are still the best of friends and I thank God for that! I wish I was with her today for her birthday, but I know she will be surrounded by many of her family and friends and I am so thankful for that! And although I know I will not be able to celebrate with her today, I know that when we do see eachother next, it will be time to PARTTTAY!!
