2010 NYE

I have not even had time to post about Christmas, Mike's birthday, our anniversary, my brother joining a band in Nashville, or my new job . . . so I am going to have a TON to catch up on after the New Year.

In the meantime, I am thinking about NYE. It's going to be me and the fam and maybe a few friends . . .not sure about that yet. This will be the first year since Mike and have been married that we will get to spend NYE together . . he's always had to work. So I am looking forward to getting to give him a big kiss at the stroke of midnight!! Before we were married we were together for 2 years, and I think out of those 2 years we were able to spend only 1 NYE
together, isn't that crazy?? Well we've been together during the day maybe, but not when it counts, which is when the ball drops at midnight.

Usually on NYE it is a Conrad tradition (my family) to have shrimp cocktail. So I know we will be having that along with some other yummy treats and of course good wine and cocktails. Now I've just got to go home tonight and get things picked up . . ughhh! I am going to have to find a place to stash all of the open Christmas gifts which are still in boxes and piled up behind the couch, so that will be fun too!
Here's wishing everyone a Happy New Year! All the best to you and yours in 2010!! Cheers!!!

Burning a hole in my pocket . . .

For Christmas, I got a few gift cards and they are burning a hole in my pocket!! ha ha! I'm thinking about going to see what damage I can do with a couple of them today when I get off work! I got 2 for Macy's, so I may go there. I think I am wanting to try and find something cute to wear tomorrow night when Mike and I go out to dinner for our anniversary. So I will go look and see. I also got a gift card to Lowe's - this may sound strange, but I LOVE Lowe's! There so much I want to do to our house so I know I will put that to good use. I may wait a bit to use that one because I know if I go use it and find something it may mean Mike may have to do some work, and I hate to do that to him right now, ha ha! So I'll hang on to that one a little longer.

I know sometimes people think gift cards are so impersonal but I love them. I just think you can't go wrong with a gift card! My Dad got my Mom one for Dillard's so she can go shop, then one to Pier1. They are moving and so I know she will enjoy going to Pier1 and using it once she gets settled and all.

Last night was Mike's birthday, I will have to post pics of that later on in the week. Happy Monday everyone. Hope most of you are off work . . . unlike me today! But I am off tomorrow and so is M, so we are planning on staying in our PJ's, chilling, watching our wedding videos (since it will be our 2 year anniversary) and then go to a nice dinner later that night. So I am looking forward to that!

Happy Birthday to My Hubby!

Christmas is over BooHoo, here comes the New Year, WooHoo!

So is anyone else sad like me that Christmas is over? I always feel sad when it is . . . it's just my favorite time of year. But I shouldn't be sad because the next few days will still be fun and exciting at the Nabors household . . .Mike's birthday is the 27th, our 2nd wedding anniversary is the 29th, New Years Eve and then I start a new job on the 4th!! I will have to go into that more later, but I got a job with Southern Bride magazine and I am SO excited about it! My first day I am going to New Orleans with the publisher and a few other ladies for some meetings. I'll be there for a few days, so looking forward to that.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. I will post more on our Christmas festivities later! I wanted to post at least one pic from Christmas so the picture above is of me and my brothers girlfriend, Ashley on Christmas Eve. In the meantime, enjoy your weekend everyone, and be safe!!!

LAST Winter Wedding Wednesday

Are all of you sick of my Winter Wedding Wednesday posts?? ha ha! Well if so, this is my last one! Next Tuesday marks our 2 year Anniversary. I can't believe how time has flown by, seems like just yesterday we first met. I am so blessed to be married to my best friend. I know some people may just say that, but I truly mean it! I absolutely cannot imagine my life without Mike. He is always looking out for me and always wanting to help me and make sure that I have all I need.

Some people have said I was crazy to get married on Dec. 29th. One because it is 4 days after Christmas and I guess people assume I will never get a good anniversary gift. Two - Mikes Birthday is Dec. 27th, so yes Dec. is pretty much a big month for us. But I would not change the date I got married for anything. I wasn't thinking about the date and planning on the time of year so that years to come I can be sure to get a good gift. Gifts are nice and all and what girl doesn't want a nice gift on her anniversary - but to me, a sweet card and even dinner is gift enough for me! (I'll just have him make it up some time throughout the year, ha ha. j/k)

The best gift Mike has ever given me to date, was when he sang to me at our wedding. It was SUCH a surprise and just made our wedding that much more special!!! There is no other gift besides our future children of course, that he could ever give me that could even compare to this!!

I am thankful I found the love of my life and I look forward to many more years with my prince charming, soul mate and best friend!! I love you Mr. Nabors!!!!!!

Love,

Mrs. Nabors

Show 'n Tell Tuesday: Christmas Card & Personalized Gingerbread House (from Red Envelope)

SHOW:

TELL:
This is a Gingerbread house that my Mom ordered a couple of years ago from Red Envelope. You could order one and have it personalized with your name on it for around $60. My maiden name is Conrad - if you are wondering why it doesn't say "Nabors." I just thought this was the cutest thing!!! She has it out again this year and it's still in pretty good shape. It may not last 5 years, but if it lasts a few I think it's definitely worth it!! I think this would make a great gift for someone too!! If you haven't ever checked out RedEnvelope.com you really should. They have some of the neatest things and cutest gifts. I have ordered a few things from them myself.

Lastly, here is our Christmas card . . . . .

It wasn't quite what I wanted this year, but I was late doing it and just glad I got one done. So Happy Holidays from the Nabors!!!

Christmas is near . . .

So Christmas is quickly approaching and I find myself checking my lists and making sure I have everything I need! I should have it all, but there are a couple small things I'm going to have to pick up here in the next day or 2. After that I'm just going to enjoy the house with trees, decor, and Christmas smells in the air! My dad will be getting home Tuesday and then that will complete having our family all together!
I did a little something different with some of the Christmas cards I received this year. I have never quite found a way I liked to display my cards. I would either set them up along the kitchen counter or put them on the fridge. But this year I did this down the pantry hall . . .

I still have more cards, so I'm either going to have to make my ribbon longer or add a 3rd one in the middle. We'll see. But I liked displaying them this way for a change.

Friday night I went with Mike to do some last shopping for his family. We did that then went to dinner, we took a pic before we left . . .

Oh and here is a glimpse of our main tree in the Dining room (in color) . . .

I'll get some better pics of it this week. I also need to post pics of the tree in the den/breakfast room area. I'll do that this week too. A couple more pics from the weekend . . .

Mike has had to work like crazy this past week and the next few days will be even worse I'm afraid. He works for Fed-Ex (the head quarters is here in Memphis for those of you who don't know) and of course this time of year is just SO busy!! He is responsible for doing paperwork, evaluating and overseeing that the planes get out and also has to make sure the planes are not loaded over capacity - quite stressful at times. I'm just ready for things to slow down for him. He's always exhausted by the time Christmas comes, but I'm praying somehow he will be able to find some time to rest!

I hope all of you have enjoyed the holidays so far. I think it is easy for all of us to get wrapped up in the gift giving and even receiving, I know I am guilty of it. But I hope that as this week goes on, we all take a moment to reflect on the real reason of Christmas and look at the gifts we already have: homes, jobs, family and so much more!

Love the Glove???

I have been seeing a lot of gloves like this lately . . .

While I am a girl who loves me a great pair of cute, warm, fashionable gloves, I just can't seem to get into the cut off, fingerless glove look. It makes me think of a bum standing in an alley, wearing cut off gloves and trying to keep warm by standing over a tin trash can fire (not to be mean towards bums or those less fortunate at all - God bless 'em!)
I think I prefer the gloves that are completely open, not every finger cut off - but that's just me. I know it's silly because there's really not much of a difference between the two. I just happen to like these better. And are the cream ones with ribbon not just so freakin ADORABLE????

As usual - this is just my opinion about not liking the ones with each finger cut off - but what do you guys think? I totally like the idea though - it makes it much easier when you have use of your fingers. There's nothing more annoying then having to take a pair of gloves off because you need the use of your fingers. This way you can still function and stay warm! I've been looking for a pair that are just open with out each finger cut, just haven't found the right pair yet . . . but maybe Santa will find a pair for me! ;)

Show 'n Tell Tuesday: These are a Few of My Favorite Things

SHOW:

TELL:

This time of I year I love things that smell good, things that look pretty and of course things that taste yummy! Sunday night we had our Christmas party for work and went to dinner and enjoyed good Italian food and wine. We also exchanged gifts. I received some great things and gave something that I thought made a great gift as well. My favorite things consist of a few things I received at our Christmas party, and what I gave as my gift!

1. One of the girls gave us all a bunch of goodies, which included some dried lemon slices! I love these!! They are pretty and smell good!! I can't wait to figure out how I want to use them!
2. Another gift was 3 adorable, little scented pillows. They were all done by hand and the lady I work with even used buttons from her own button collection. She is German and is always doing such neat things. I just loved these so much and the words on each little pillow! So I decided to put them somewhere where I could enjoy looking at them and smelling them each day - my bathroom! I think they are lavender scent. Aren't they just so cute??
3. The same lady who did the pillows, also made some AMAZING truffles!! They are to die for!! OMG!!! She packaged them SO cute too in little boxes with wax paper in between each kind to keep them separated. Such a cute gift and oh so yummy!!
4. This year I did flower arrangements for the girls. I got vases and filled them with cranberries and then hydrangeas. I did a bigger arrangement for my boss. I got to the restaurant early and was able to put them on our table that we had reserved before everyone else got there. So we got to enjoy them during dinner. I attached the little "Merry Christmas" signs to pretty paper. I chose the paper based on the person and the colors I knew they liked. I love fresh flowers and I wanted to give them all something they could really enjoy and may not do for themselves. So I hope they do enjoy them!
5. One last little thing I have the girls along with the flowers, were these adorable boxes of tea. Each box had a different flavor of tea. Plus, the boxes are just so adorable and hopefully when they drink up all the tea they can use the boxes for something.

I know we all love receiving gifts, especially unique, homemade things like I received. But - I love giving gifts and making things or putting things together for people! That's my favorite thing of all!!

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year . . .

I love chilling at home this time of year amongst Christmas trees, wreaths and just everything Christmas! It's such a cozy feeling!! I've still been tweaking some things here and there, and added a few touches to our living room. We have a fireplace and mantel in our den/breakfast room area but not in our living room. So I kind of had to get creative and do something in our living room that made me feel as if I had a mantel to decorate. I had a picture frame, minus the glass and all - just the frame. I took it and set it on top of our amoire and hung a wreath from it. I thought about doing the wreath alone, but something about the frame just kind of added a touch I thought. I also have my fresh flowers with berries - which I LOVE. Tomorrow I will show the arrangements I did for the girls at work, they were so pretty.!

Oh and Mr. Big wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas!!!
