Looking Back at Past Fall Decor . . .

Tonight I was looking at a few older pictures of our first place after we got married. I ran across a couple pictures of how I decorated our mantel for Fall that first year and thought I would share them. It was simple, but there is something about it love.

I always LOVE candles, so I mixed candles with pumpkins and gourds all along the mantel. It was so pretty in person!!

I am still tweaking some of Fall stuff as we speak, but when I am done, I will share that as well! Hope everyone has had a great week so far!

Lucky Me!

Today I went to a photo shoot for the mag and it was simply AMAZING! I can't go into too many details so that I don't spoil the next issue coming out this winter, but I am SO excited!! It was at one of the most beautiful venues I have seen. It was on 25 acres, had several locations for weddings, and receptions and was landscaped and decorated like you wouldn't believe! The main part was an old house, originally form the 1800's. The current owners have put a ton of work into it and it shows. The main house looked like a mini Tara from Gone With The Wind.

We had a planner, florist, make-up, models, catering, party rentals, you name it, we had it! It was a long day, but so fun! They were still shooting later this evening and as I was getting ready to leave, I was told to take a couple flower arrangements home with me. I was happy to do that . . . . . of course! All the flower arrangements by the florist today were gorgeous. The ones I got to bring home were Pomanders (also known as "flower balls.")

They can be used for bridesmaids or hanging. I placed them over my kitchen table to show how pretty they look hanging . . . .

Now they are each in a vase and I am hoping they will last through the weekend so I can enjoy them! I am keeping one in my kitchen them may put one in my bedroom to enjoy!

One of the many things I enjoy most in life are fresh flowers, and I certainly intend to enjoy these!!

Weekend Recap & FAB New Shoes!!!

This weekend I didn't have to work and it was WONDERFUL!! Although Saturday morning I woke up and my allergies were in full force. I took some medicine for some relief and it made me so tired. Needless to say I spent most of the day on the couch, which I kinda hate cause I had a lot I wanted to do, but it was nice to just relax and chill. I did do a little re-arranging and put a few Fall things around the house Saturday. I played around in the dining room . . . .

I'm sure it will change again, especially once I get some pumpkins. But for now I am liking it. I originally had the vase of twigs on the table, but wanted to try it out on the buffet and I liked it there.

Today when I got up I had to take Mr. Big (for those of you who don't know . . that's my dog) outside and was SO happy to find that the weather was finally feeling more like fall. I picked up our bedroom a little, then took Mr. Big on a walk. It was such a pretty day I hated to stay in the entire time, so we went out for a nice walk! He loves walks! It was so cute too because the wind was blowing and leaves were flying around and he was just running and chasing them! It was so cute!

After that I decided to run up to a store I like around here to look at some house ware things. I didn't find exactly what I was looking for in the house department and although I tried very hard to steer clear of the clothes or shoes, I was weak and gave in. I have been in need of some flats for work. I am not really a flat shoe kind of gal. I always like wearing taller shoes or a wedge since I am so short. But there are times at work that I change shoes to some flat sandals and with fall and winter approaching I knew I needed some sort of close toe flats. So I totally scored on 2 pairs:

{These look really cute on cuz they kind of have a fish net like design}

{Mr. Big was checking my new shoes out too, see him?? haha}

{Love the back of these! Wish they had them in black too!}

They had some other fun colors, and I may go back and get more, but I wear boots and heels mostly too work so I figured these are all I really need for now.

Just as the store was getting ready to close I was making my way up to check out, I spotted the HOTTEST pair of shoes ever!!

I glanced at the price and guess how much they were . . . .
*149.99
*89.99
*49.99
*24.99

So how much do you think they were?? Well, let me tell you. They were none of those prices. They were $12.99!!! Can you believe it???? One word came to mind:

SOLD!!!!!!!!

I am in LOOOOOVE with them and CANNOT wait to wear them!!

So that was a great part of the night! To top it all off I came home and M and I cooked Mini Pepper jack Turkey Burgers. I ate mine with out the buns to keep the carbs down, but boy were they good!

So that was pretty much our weekend! I got a full week ahead: going out of town for the day tomorrow for work, photo shoot for the mag Tuesday, meetings Wed. and the list goes on and on. But I'm looking forward to it all and hoping it will be a great week!

Beautiful Color Combo: Blue & Orange

When a new season approaches I start thinking about a few touches around my house I can change or add too to fit the time of year. For summer I like refreshing colors and then for fall I like to incorporate a few of the lovely colors of the season: browns, oranges, yellows, plums, the list goes on and on.

This summer I got some pretty pale blue drapes for our living/sitting room and I really enjoyed them and was quite happy with picking that color because it goes with so much. I had thought about getting some different drapes for fall but have decided that I am going to incorporate some touches of orange and rust with the blue drapes. The colors are really pretty together and I will share some photos of the room when I am done. Until then, here are some stunning rooms with some pops of blue and orange! So many shades of blue can go with orange, a lighter paler blue, a deep dark midnight blue or turquoise. They all look great!

{photos from Decorpad}

I have a zebra rug in the room that I am working on, so seeing this photo makes me know that it will work well! That's what I love about a zebra rug, it looks great in almost any room and all colors!!

And who says these fab color combos have to stop here, they look great on too! Check out what Ashley Olsen did . . . she took a simple, pretty orange dress and added this blue scarf! Fabulous I say, just fabulous!

Happy Friday and hope all of you have a wonderful, safe weekend!

Bearded and Bazaar

Tonight I was watching TV and guess who is back??? Speidi!! And let me just say, Spencer is just as weird as ever. Have you seen him lately?? OMG! He has a full on, bushy, un-kept, beard!! Yuk!! I'm not against facial hair, but if you are going to have it, keep it up and looking kept and trimmed. His is out of control and he just looks awful!!

SO strange! I don't even know how Heidi can even kiss him (let alone anything else!) yuk!! They have both seriously lost their mind! He wasn't a bad looking guy before, just a jerk. But now he's an ugly jerk! I suppose I shouldn't be surprised by anything they do, who knows . . . . by Christmas time he'll be at a local mall with an even longer beard, playing Santa Clause for money!! Just wait, I wouldn't put it past him to do something like that!! LOL

1 potato, 2 potato, 3 potato, 4 . . . .

Tonight I was trying to decide what to fix for dinner. My hubby was a little under the weather today and I offered to go to the store to get him some soup, then it made me start thinking about what kind of soup sounded good to us. Then it hit me, potato soup! I had a big bag of potato's I needed to use, so Potato Soup it was . . . and I was going to make it!!

This was my first time making potato soup. My Mom has always made the best! I didn't think ahead of time to get her recipe, so I looked one up on one of my favorite food websites called TasteSpotting, then I found a recipe. You can click here to view it. I do want to get my Mom's recipe though, cause hers is really good too! I have a lot left over, which means I will be having it for lunch tomorrow! Stuff like this is SO good leftover too because all the flavors absorb. Are you all hungry now???

Texas Trip {lots of pics}

As usual, I am playing catch up on my blog . . . so let me rewind to a few weeks ago when I went to visit my parents in Texas (Lubbock to be specific.) I stayed for almost a week and it was great. We went out to dinner, laid out, Mom and I shopped, had plenty of wine (he he) and just enjoyed our time together!

First night, Mom & Dad took me to dinner at one of the best restaurants in town, the Double Nickel! Wish I had taken photos of the inside because it was all black and red with gorgeous chandeliers and lighting! Can't wait to go back!

After dinner we went for some after dinner entertainment . . . .

Every time I come to visit, Mom always has fresh flowers in my room! Love it!!

Next day . . shopping with Mom! We spent almost 3 hours in this one store. They had a TON of accessories, shoes and handbags AND a frozen margarita machine!! ha ha - what can get better then jewelry, handbags, shoes and margaritas!! It was SOO fun and we left with lots of goodies (that will be another post in itself!)

After a full day of shopping we met a friend of hers at this great little place Stella's for happy hour . . . . as if the margaritas were not enough, ha ha

Us afterwards - we were "happy" alright! LOL

Next day was pool time! Mom making us a drink to take out by the pool!

That night we went to The Ander's house, friends of my parents. They had the neatest back yard and patio!

I made friends with these guys!

While we waited on dinner we enjoyed these amazing bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos!!

Look how pretty it was when it got dark!

Dad, Mom and Me after dinner

The next day was gorgeous! Mom, Dad and I went out for lunch and well . . . more shopping!

We do not have a World Market where I live anymore, so I HAD to go while I was there since they had one! Look at their wine selections! They also carry my favorite candles so I had to stock up on those! Oh how I miss this store!!!!!

Mom and I found this adorable dress shop. This is me after trying on the cute dress behind me . . . . . . SOLD!

Next day, it was time to come home! I was sad to go but had a blast. By the looks of my plane ride home, you would think I was a guy . . . beer and pretzels! ha ha

Heading home to my honey!
