Vaseline Secrets & Celebs Who Use It

Have you ever heard of your Mother or Grandmother using Vaseline on their face? Well I have, and my Grandmother did it and my Mom does it and their skin looks great! For as long as I can remember, I've always used Vaseline to remove my eye make-up and sometimes I even spread a little on my face before I go to bed. I have really dry skin, so for me - this works well. For those who tend to have more oily skin, this may not work so well.

I have heard for years people debate about whether or not you should use Vaseline on your face and how it can clog your pores. But I have never had a problem with it and it doesn't bother me the way it feels. After seeing how my Mother's skin looks after all the years of her using Vaseline, I know it has definitely done her some good. No, it's not the high end, expensive stuff - but I don't care about that, I care about what works for me - which is why I use it. I have had quite a few people ask me over the years about my skin and my face and how it looks so clear and smooth, and maybe it's the Vaseline? I do not have perfect skin, I have freckles and a few expression lines but I have always moisturized my face a lot. I do it at night, and I also put a light weight moisturizer on in the mornings after I wash my face and before I put on my make-up. If I don't, my make-up feels dry on my face since I have dry skin. I have also loved the sun over the years. I have a natural olive complexion as it is and while I know I've probably been in the sun a bit too much, I think the fact that I have moisturized my skin with certain products including Vaseline, that has helped me.

Like I said, I know this is not for everyone and everyone may not agree with using Vaseline on their face and may think it feels weird, but for ME - it has worked great. I'm not getting any younger, so I am going to continue to use it!

My Mother is in her early fifties ~ I don't think she'll mind me saying that since I'm talking about how good her skin looks . . .and as I mentioned before, she has used Vaseline just as her mother did and I think her skin looks great! Part of it may be genetics of course, but if she hadn't taken care of her skin over the years and taught me to do the same, then it would show.

Mom (50's)
Me (28)
Now I'm not saying that my skin is perfect by any means at all! I have my good and bad days and occasional breakouts - but for the most part, I am pleased with my skin. I think it partly may be in my genes, but I also think it's how I moisturize my skin too.

My Mother and I are not the only ones who do this. Good 'ol Vaseline is one of Tyra Banks and Hillary Duff's favorite beauty products. They put it on their face for a night cream.

Celebs who use Vaseline on their face:

Tyra ~ (36) she uses it to take off her eye make-up, around her eyes and sometimes will sleep with Vaseline on her face (like me.)

J-Lo - (41) she uses it for eye make up remover, which also helps wrinkles around the eyes (that's why I like to use it to remove my eye make-up too!)

Hillary Duff ~ (23) she uses it to moisturize and help dry skin. HD is now the new "Vaseline" girl and spokesperson.

Kellie Pickler

- (24) she told People magazine "I use it on my face. It's so soft on your face and on your eyelids. (Idol pal) Katharine McPhee (26) told me about it."

Halle Berry - (44) she uses it on her lips and lets it sit for about a half an our before applying her lipstick. This keeps them looking soft.

Alek Wek (model) - (33) swears by Vaseline and uses it all over her face and body.

Mini Driver - (40) uses Vaseline to help her age gracefully.

Runway Models ~ an article in Vogue a while back stated that models love using Vaseline as an intense eye and face treatment.

And if you are interested, Here are 50 other uses of Vaseline.

(*UP-DATE - I forgot to mention that I am NOT dipping my fingers in the Vaseline every time I use it. I use a cotton pad or tissue in order to keep bacteria out. I should get the squeeze bottle soon, because that would be even better!)

I love Vaseline! I have super dry skin and it is the only thing that helps! Have you used Aquaphor before? It is like SUPER Vaseline! I need that for the rest of my body. Poor dry me!
I love that so many celebs use it! It def beats spending $200 for a mini bottle of the other stuff they usually use!

Wow, what a great beauty tip! I never knew to use Vaseline on the face, but it makes sense. When a person has dry lips it moisturizes the lips and helps keep them from getting chap. Very interesting!

By the way, you and your mother are GORGEOUS! =) ~Liz

Wow, I never thought to put Vaseline on my face. I've always put it on my heels with socks at night if they were a little dry. As far as eye makeup remover, I've been using baby oil but you have to use it so sparingly or you'll have a big mess! Thanks for the tips :)

I LOVE Vaseline and have been using it for about a yr-- A blogger friend of mine said she used since her teens- she looks lovely-- I wished I would have statrt this back when I was a teen- better later than never right.

I spray my face after I wash it w/ a water bottle then I put a thin layer of vaseline-- I got the tube kind instead the jar vaseline-easier to keep bacteria out- you can find in the baby section-Great post!!!
