St. Patty's Day 2011

Happy St. Patty's Day!! Hope everyone had a great one!! We enjoyed a night at home, some yummy food, and dessert! I got in the festive mood today so went to the store and got some stuff to make a St. Patty's Day dinner.

Us. I may be in trouble for posting this pic because hubby didn't shave today so he wasn't really wanting his picture taken. But it doesn't bother me!

I have been wanting to get some Bells of Ireland ever since some were used in a photoshoot we did a few weeks ago. I went and got some today and the irony of the name of the flower and the holiday didn't even hit me till I had left the store! Aren't they pretty??

Got some Mint Oreo's!

The napkins I made out of some scrap fabric I got at Joanne's.

A lil appetizer we had. Spinach quesadilla

It wouldn't be St. Patty's Day with out some green brewski

St. Patty's Day Dinner!

Hubby's plate: Corned Beef Brisket, Mashed Potatoes, Broccoli (his favorite veggie) and sweet rolls

yum!
My lil sweetie! He was decked out in green too!

Dessert time! Pudding and crushed mint oreos

So that was our St. Patty's Day! I can remember the days I would go out with friends . . . which was fun, but staying home with my hubby and pup, enjoying good food and a little music was great! I wouldn't have it any other way!

M.O.N.D.A.Y.

I have been a bit under the weather the past few days. My sinuses and throat has been killing me, must be this darn weather . . . sure wish it would make up its mind! It will be beautiful one day, and then tonight we had to turn the heat on. But I know it wont be for long because warmer, sunny weather is right around the corner.

Haven't shared any meals lately, so thought I would share what I fixed tonight. I made some Salmon and fixed some black beans with it and then for my hubby I made him a little more and did some broccoli and cooked a single sweet potato and made him his very own sweet potato casserole (that way I wouldn't be tempted to eat - although I did have a bite.) I just stuck with the salmon and black beans and it was tasty!! I love cooking salmon because it's so good for you and it cooks very fast!

Luckily I have some left over - so I will be eating it tomorrow!!

Hubby's individual sweet potato casseroles! He enjoyed it!! Just because I'm trying not to eat certain things doesn't mean he has to suffer too! haha

Then of course . . . I watched the Bachelor! I'm not going to do an entire recap of the events because frankly I don't care to take the time to do so. However, I will make a couple comments about the aftershow! I saw so many people on FB commenting about how bizarre it was and how weird Emily seemed and I didn't agree. Yes she seemed different, but to me . . . that's okay! I think they still seemed very much in love and yes, they may have some things to work through - but who doesn't? I wanted to ask all the people who were making comments on facebook if their relationships were perfect???? Finally I couldn't take it anymore, and this is what I posted on FB:

"I know it's a bit shocking to hear what Emily & Brad are saying, but at least they are being honest and not telling everyone what they want to hear! Whether you are married or in a relationship, it's not roses and fairy tales everyday - it's work. But you work at it because you want to and because you love the person! Which is what it looks like they are doing. I wish them luck!"

Nuff said!

After that I was on my computer and looking through some old pictures I have (which was so fun) and came across this photo of us a couple weeks after we got engaged. We had gone out to a broadway play and then dinner afterwards! It warmed my heart to see this photo, which is about 5 years old. I love finding photos that bring back great memories!!

Hope everyone had a great Monday and continue to have a great week!!

Night night!

Keen on Purple & Green

Spring is right around the corner, which means it's time to spring things up around the house. I have been doing a few things here and there and putting away some of my wintery things. In our living room, I had plum purple curtains up over the holidays and mixed it with red for Christmas, and now I have put all my red accents away, pillows, picture frames, etc. and pulled out some green things -which mixes very well with the purple/plum. I love these two colors together!! It's cheery and warm!

I'm so glad I purchased my plum drapes before Christmas because now I see that I can make them work into spring! I will post pictures soon of how I have mixed the 2 colors, but until I do, here are some other fabulous spaces using purple and green!

Sweet Tooth Saver

For those of you who don't know . . . I have a major sweet tooth! I love sweets, but they don't love me! ha ha! It doesn't have to be something bad necessarily (although I am a chocoholic) but it can be fruit or something as simple as a granola bar.

I have been watching what I eat and it's been fine except for the fact I have a sweet tooth. For almost 2 years now I have been enjoying a low carb yogurt called Carb Masters from Kroger! It saves me!! I sometimes have it for breakfast and then may have one at night for a lil something sweet.

It not only takes care of my sweet craving, but the breakdown as far as calories, carbs AND protein is great! It's the only yogurt I eat these days! I like other yogurts, but with this one only has 60 calories, and now I have a hard time bringing myself to eat another yogurt that has 120 - 180 calories. If I'm going to have that many calories I'd rather eat a cookie than a yogurt! ha!
So if you have a Kroger where you live, check it out! They have several flavors that are quite tasty!! Tonight I had one called "Carrot Cake." When I first saw it I wasn't so sure about it, but it's good. I mean of course I'd rather have a big fat piece of REAL carrot cake - but this will have to do.

I am excited it's Friday!! And that I do not have to work this weekend!! Hooray!!! That rarely happens! So I am looking forward to it!!

Happy Friday to all of you!!

2 Words, 1 Name . . . Judith March

When I was in Seaside a few weeks ago I found the cutest shop right off the beach called Dejavu! I got a ring, a necklace AND 4 Judith March dresses!!! I love Judith March!! Her style of clothing is cute, sassy, classy and comfortable!! The dresses were all on sale too, which made it even better. I only have photos of 2 of the dresses . . .but as soon as I wear the others, I will snap some pics and show you!

This first dress I had seen over 6 months ago while I was visiting my parents in TX. I fell in love with it, but had already done some damage shopping and couldn't bring myself to pay $180 for it. But I got an AMAZING deal on it this time around so I had to take it!! I cannot wait to wear it!! Isn't it presh??

This next one is just a cute, basic, comfy dress. I think it will work year around too!!

If you are not familiar with Judith March, check out the website and Facebook page to see more of her fabulous styles!!

If that's not enough, follow the fab Judith March BLOG!!

March into Spring with Aquamarine {post 1}

Last year I started these posts and shared some eye candy . . . . Aquamarines. My birthday is this month, and since Aquamarine is the birthstone for March, I thought it would be a fun thing to do. So every week I am going to try to do this post and show some pretties!

I'm so glad I have a pretty birthstone! Not that any of them are ugly, but I particularly like mine! There are many shades of an Aquamarine, some more pale and some more vibrant blue, but all are beautiful! I like traditional jewelry, but am usually a fan of pieces that are different and not something everyone as - so the pieces I will be showing will be just that . . . unique!
